"The limits of my language mean the limits of my world." - is a famous quote by the philosopher Ludwig Wittgenstein. Wittgenstein tries to mean that language can broaden our perspective and widen our thinking. The world's population speaks many types of languages. A person's native language is the best option to express thoughts, feelings, and emotions within his nation and culture. However, English is the only common language for global communication, which has become the key to feeling connected, sharing culture, and avoiding misunderstanding.

 

Generally, Non-English speakers acquire English as a second language to communicate with people from other cultures. The importance of this language is visible. For instance, it is the principal teaching medium in universities worldwide that allow students from varied background. Tourists use English as a common language while communicating with locals of different cultures. International business meetings communicate in English and share ideas. Thus, the broad use of English unites everyone.

 

This means several options are available to learn this primary language. I am about to highlight some efficient and practical ways to boost learning English.

 

¨     Read English books and articles audibly: One effective way to enhance our language skills is by reading English books and articles audibly, which develops our vocabulary. Also, it enhances our accent.

 

¨     Writing daily journals and making a To-Do list: These two methods help to improve one's English language, besides storing valuable memories and completing everyday chores. It's even beneficial for increasing the quality of our academic writing.

 

¨     Communicating with international friends through games and apps: This process can be used to utilize our leisure time to develop speaking skills. There are various multiplayer games where gamers can communicate with their teammates while playing, such as PUBG, COD, and other role-playing simulator games. Likewise, there is an app name "buddy talk" where you can practice speaking English with random people.

 

¨     Learning through apps that are not monotonous: There are quality apps where learners can practice writing, speaking, reading, and listening with the help of native English speakers. For example, Duolingo and English Score by British Council are such apps. Different contests and tasks make it more interesting for the learners.

 

¨     Taking English courses: Many universities and organizations provide quality English courses where learners can nurture their English basics and meet their potential by attending competitions, exams, debates, and many more.

 

¨     Watch English movies, and shows and listen to music: Though it is the most suggested, one of the most effective methods in this modern era. It is a common way to develop listening skills. As language keeps changing daily, it helps us learn new words that are the latest.

 

In conclusion, the importance of learning English must be addressed. As a universal language, it enhances communication and provides access to education. Therefore, learning English is an investment in progress.
